How you may use this
Read it, print it, quote it with a link back. Do not scrape the site to rebuild it elsewhere, and do not republish whole pages as your own. From public records the register extracts are taken and owned by nobody; around them the writing is ours.
Questions about reuse, and anything else about these terms: [email protected].
Where the line runs
- General information about how licensing and trading work
- That is what this site publishes
- A recommendation of a broker, a pair or a position size
- Not here, and not by mail
- Anything adjusted to your income, debts or tolerance for loss
- We do not know them and never ask
- Advice as the CMA Uganda defines it
- A regulated activity; we are not licensed for it
If you want advice, take it from someone the CMA Uganda authorises to give it.
This is information, not advice
Everything on Shilling Desk is general information about how forex trading and broker licensing work in Uganda. Nothing here is financial advice, a recommendation or an offer. We have no knowledge of your income, your obligations or your tolerance for loss, and nothing here is adjusted to them.
Giving investment advice in Uganda is a regulated activity. No licence is held by us for it, and we do not carry it on. If you want advice, take it from someone the CMA Uganda authorises to give it.
| Step | What happens | When |
|---|---|---|
| 1 · You write | The page address and what the correct value is | Any time |
| 2 · We check it | Against the public source you name, not against our own page | Same week |
| 3 · The page changes | The figure is replaced and the page says it was corrected | With the date on it |
A number is never quietly edited to leave the page looking as though it always said that.
The commercial side, stated
Some outbound links to brokers are partner links: if you open an account through one, we may be paid by the broker. The payment does not affect anything on this site, and it costs you nothing more. Copied from the regulator, the register extract cannot be altered by payment: no firm can pay to appear in it, to be removed from it or to have its status described differently.
Behind a label that says where it goes sits every partner link, marked as sponsored in the markup. We do not rank brokers, and editorial placement is not something we sell.
| What it is | How it is marked | Who pays |
|---|---|---|
| A partner link to a broker | Marked sponsored, behind a label saying where it goes | The broker may pay us if you open an account |
| The register extract | Copied from the regulator | Nobody can pay to be in it, out of it, or described differently |
| Everything else on the page | Not for sale | No editorial placement, no paid ranking |
You pay nothing extra for using a partner link, and the payment changes nothing on the page.
What accuracy means here
Registers change daily, brokers change their terms, and a page is a snapshot of the day it was written. So that you can check it at the source, which is the only current version, we date what we publish and say where it came from.
We give no warranty that the site is complete, free of errors or uninterrupted. Where a figure matters to a decision about money, check it against the CMA Uganda register or the broker's own documents before you act on it.
| What | How it ages | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The CMA Uganda register extract | Changes whenever the regulator updates it | Re-read it at cmauganda.co.ug before you deposit |
| A broker's terms and fees | Change without notice | The broker's own documents are the current version |
| Session hours | Shift by an hour when London and New York change clocks | The page says which period it shows |
| USD/UGX | Moves every trading day | Indicative only; your broker converts at its own rate |
The site is a snapshot dated on the page. Any decision about money taken by a figure should be checked at the source.
Trading and loss
Leveraged forex and CFD trading can lose you more than a small share of your deposit, quickly. Most retail accounts lose money. A firm with a licence is supervised, but that does not mean your money is safe from trading losses, and no page here should be taken to suggest otherwise.
That a position goes against you is a question distinct from supervision and solvency. A CMA Uganda licence speaks to how a firm must hold client money, report and handle complaints; it says nothing about the market. How long a position survives is decided by the arithmetic below, which is the same at every broker: leverage sets the margin, and the margin sets how small a move takes it.
| Mechanism | Used here | What that means |
|---|---|---|
| Cookies | No | Nothing is set, first or third party |
| Local and session storage | No | Nothing is written to your browser |
| Analytics of ours | No | No script, no pixel, no tag manager |
| Accounts or logins | No | There is no database with your name in it |
| Newsletter or forms | No | Nothing to subscribe to |
| Fingerprinting | No | No device or canvas identification |

Other people's sites
We link to regulators, exchanges, central banks and brokers. A link is not an endorsement, especially when it leads to a warning about a firm; we do not control those sites and are not responsible for what they publish.
The links that matter most here are the ones to the CMA Uganda register and to a broker's own terms, because those are the documents that decide the question, and ours is only a reading of them. Where this site and the source disagree, the source is right and we want to hear about it.
What a link from here means
- Regulators, central banks and exchanges
- Cited as the source of a figure — never an endorsement
- A warning notice about a firm
- Linked because it exists, not because we agree or disagree
- A broker
- Partner link, marked sponsored, through this domain's own redirect
- Anything else we link
- We do not control it and are not responsible for what it publishes
A link is a pointer to a source, and the source is the version that is current.
